FILM AND TV

Welcome to our end of year show and the fantastic work produced by our Film and TV learners. They have shown an incredible amount of resilience during this year due to the issues facing them and have still shown hard work, passion and come out of the course with products they should be proud of.

Below is a collection of work, chosen by the learners themselves to highlight just a small selection of what they were able to produce.

To our leaners: Congratulations all of you for completing your course, it’s been a pleasure to teach you all, and we look forward to seeing what you produce as you leave your course and continue to develop your filmmaking skills.

Annie Mason documentary

by Jay McNeil

"I enjoyed every single stage when making this documentary, from going to the store and visualising the shots I will use, all the way through to building this story in editing. From the first time visiting the Anniemaison Café and hearing about how they got started, I knew that it had great potential for a documentary. Once completed I shown this documentary to various family members, friends and college tutors. Each one of them coming back with great feedback on it. It was then posted on social media which It received thousands of views and many compliments from other businesses as well as from members of the public. All this positive feedback I received has made it my most proud work to date. "

Engraved traditions

by Harry Brown

Level 3

"This piece of work was not only the most fun to make but I also got to work professionally with a real client and got a taste of the industry I want to go in to."

#metoo

by Molly Young

"I chose this piece because I was proud of the outcome, I was happy it was hard hitting and emotional and I believe I managed to get the emotion I wanted across as well. I think the story was there to be told and I'm glad I got it across to my audience the way I did."

Level 3

growing up in the black country

by Jack Wright

"I chose my documentary as it was the last thing I created whilst at college and so I feel it rounds things off quite nicely and acts as a good summary of the work I completed whilst on the course. I also like it because it’s my favourite video I completed whilst at college."

2020 showreel

by Flynn Lumley

Level 3

"I chose to submit my showreel as I think it has the best parts of everything I have made in my two years on the course. The moments in my showreel showed promise and work that I am proud of."

Level 3

"I think this is one of my best pieces of work because of the way it turned out and what happened after I made it. I was very proud of the finished video and once I'd completed it the official England Woman's Dodgeball team asked if they could use the video to inspire more girls to join up, which is amazing."

HE SHowcase: Phoenix

Written and Directed by Logan Melrose

Cinematography by Kelsey Wood

Level 4 HE Film

"With a rich interest in true story films and the backing of my lecturers, brought the ambition and confidence to share my personal experiences which has made me the person I am today. The emotional attachment to the script and main character established unexpected struggles. The guidance of my tutor and the continuous support enabled me to emotionally detach myself, replacing it with a new sense of a professional identity. Having only gained experience with fictional films, opened opportunities to challenge underdeveloped skills, expanding both knowledge and attributes which I can carry with me on my career path." - Logan Melrose

"HE film has given me the opportunities I needed to be able to further my knowledge as an aspiring DP with support from my tutor. I am bettering myself constantly, HE has given me a sense of professionalism and has opened my eyes into the endless learning and possibilities linked to film. Getting opportunities to experiment with different techniques and equipment you are always learning new ways to do things and are constantly getting better and gaining more knowledge.  - Kelsey Wood
